My Book Launch for Gullah Tears: The Enslaved Souls of Charleston

Hello all!

This past month I celebrated the launch of my debut novel, Gullah Tears: The Enslaved Souls of Charleston.

Over the past six years, I’ve spent my time researching, writing, editing and editing some more to bring this novel to life.

We celebrated in Beaufort, South Carolina, my new hometown and setting of my second novel (more details to come, I’m currently starting research for it!). It was hosted at Plums restaurant, a local haunt and favorite of pretty much everyone who steps foot in it.

I couldn’t have asked for better weather or better people to help me celebrate this momentous occasion.

Speaking for the London School of Economics

Hello all!

Well, another hurdle jumped. I just had the pleasure of speaking virtually for William Goodenough College, a branch of the London School of Economics.

I attended LSC many moons ago as part of my law studies, but this go around, I talked about my second career, that of me being an author. Specifically, I spoke of my time writing my novel, Gullah Tears, including the research and tie spent diving in the topic.

Interestingly enough, the talk took place just days after the election. As you can imagine, the questions I received held a note of the current political and social climate, yet were masked in the Brits’ ever-present ability to speak without ruffling any feathers - i.e. “Why is it that African Americans and Cops always seem to be at odds when together?”

Oh, British niceties. May they never change!
